CAMPUS MONITOR 

  • Two part time, temporary Campus Monitors needed
  • Hours worked may vary and will typically be performed in the late afternoon/evening, after normal school hours.
  • Assignment, hours and location are subject to change based on staffing needs.

Purpose Statement: 

The job of Campus Monitor is done for the purpose/s of monitoring the campus and students after regular school hours related to extra-curricular activities and events to ensure the safety and security of students, staff and property. 

This job reports to the Principal or assigned administrator 

Essential Functions

Patrol and monitor an assigned campus to maintain safety and security of students; monitor auditorium, lunch areas, walkways, restrooms and parking lots and sporting events including crowd control.

Refer students to office for disciplinary action as necessary; Report concerns to supervising staff member and/or administration as appropriate according to established procedures; escort students to lock-out as necessary.

Enforce school and District rules, regulations and policies for the safety and security of students, staff and property; report unusual activities or unauthorized persons on campus to appropriate personnel.

Prevent student conflicts and fights according to established guidelines; intervene as necessary; advise students of consequences if rules are violated.

Maintain positive relationships with students, staff and community; communicate with students and staff to provide and receive information regarding student activities.

Manage student behavior, following district/building discipline policies and procedures for the purpose of educating students about appropriate conduct.

Maintain the confidentiality of student records, incidents, and all communication involving students staff and the community.

Other Functions: Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. 

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE OF: Basic methods of individual and group supervision; basic interests, attitudes and emotional development of adolescents; basic laws regarding the supervision of students; skills utilized to maintain positive relationships with students and adults; interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy; health and safety regulations; basic first aid; and basic record-keeping and incident reporting techniques.

ABILITY TO: Patrol and monitor an assigned campus to maintain safety and security in a high school setting. Assure student compliance with school and District policies and regulations. Learn, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Perform duties with patience, tact and good judgment and within established guidelines. Learn District organization, operations, policies and objectives. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Observe situations and accurately determine an effective course of action. Maintain routine records and reports as assigned. Operate a two-way radio. Understand written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to affect the Organization’s services.

 Working Environment: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling,  crouching,  and/or crawling. Generally the job requires 70% walking, and 30% standing. The job is performed under some hazardous conditions including adverse weather and anti-social behavior.

Experience: Job related experience an asset 

Education: Targeted job related education that meets organization’s prerequisite requirements.

Continuing Educ. /Training: Acquire and maintain First Aid/CPR Card.

Clearances: ODE Fingerprint/Background Clearance
